Green Bay is looking to pick up a home win against Washington before back-to-back showdowns against the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings that will determine the division.
The Redskins boast one of the worst offenses in the NFL (last in points and yards per game) while the Packers are second in turnover margin, a matchup to look for as Sunday's game unfolds. The Redskins are also last in yards per pass (5.6) and pass yards per game, while the Packers are 26th in yards per pass allowed (7.6).
The betting line opened at Packers -13.5 with an over/under of 42, but the line moved to Packers -12.5 heading into the weekend. They welcome the Washington Redskins to Lambeau Field this week, a team that has won back-to-back games and has some momentum after an otherwise disappointing season.
With so much competition at the top of the NFC and in the division race against the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers need to continue to build momentum and can’t afford an upset loss at home this weekend. Washington dominated Green Bay early in the 2018 season, winning 31-17. It was the start of a disappointing season but a lot has changed in over a year since.
Cornerbacks Kevin King and Tony Brown are questionable for the game, but otherwise the Packers are healthy. That’s not something we’ve been used to seeing in Green Bay in the month of December. Long may it continue.
The Packers will be expected to win comfortably this week, but it’s not always that simple. Any victory, whether by 30 points or by one, will do just fine. Get the W and improve to 10-3 on the season.
